Review Of Info-Product Marketing Secrets Exposed
(Review prepared - March 2005)
Quick Summary
Review
I'm not always too keen on eBooks which contain interviews. The reason
is that many of these types of eBooks are hastily put together and
the answers from the interviewees are perfunctory email-based answers
(presumably there is some course out there suggesting that interviews are a quick
way to create eBook content).
This eBook however is different from the usual run of the mill eBook of
interviews, in that it's quite clear that the author, Louis Allport, has
gone to considerable trouble to properly interview his subjects - and
he has managed to get some quite revealing and in-depth answers.
In fact, I would say that the author of this eBook, Louis Allport has made
a habit of writing interview eBooks the right way. His other works include:
The 5 people interviewed in this eBook are:
- Adam Katz whose flagship product is about dog training and includes
a printed book, audio cassettes and an Internet resource disk.
- Ben Prater who sells a PDF format eBook,
"Software Secrets - Exposed!",
that explains how to create
and sell software.
- Joe Vitale who sells a range of products on business topics, and is
particularly well-known for his books about copywriting.
- Ron Ruiz who runs a private membership site.
- Yanik Silver who sells a range of marketing products.
(Yanik is also the author of
Autoresponder Magic and
Million Dollar Emails, although
he doesn't discuss these in the Interview).
One thing that I liked about this eBook, is for each interviewee there
are several pages of text, and the information contain in is quite enlightening.
For example:
- Adam Katz talks about the difficulties of running a
discussion forum,
about his ezine,
about promoting offline, and some of the problems he had in dealing with
unfinished products.
- Ben Prater explains how he sells and operates his affiliate program using
ClickBank.
- Joe Vitale explains how to find product ideas, how he runs his
ezine,
and shares some tips on using
publicity to promote a business.
- Yanik Silver tells us about his affiliate program, and how he has used
Ezine Articles
to drive traffic to his site.
Finally, I ought to mention that the copyright date on this eBook is 2002.
I don't think the text itself has dated, but it does contain a number of
hyperlinks to Internet web sites. All the hyperlinks that I tried worked,
but I didn't test every single one, so it is possible that some of the linked
web sites may no longer be available.
Conclusion
Overall, I think this is a good and enjoyable eBook, containing tons of useful
information.
It's a rare opportunity when you can get so much detailed information from
experts who have been successful in their field, so my overall rating is
therefore highly recommended, and I have no hesitation in making
this an Editor's Choice.
