Review Of Everything eBay

(Review prepared - March 2005)
Highly Recommended

Quick Summary

Review

This is an EXE format eBook (suitable for use on Windows computers) that contains 16 chapters and a short FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions).

The eBook is subtitled "A Seller's Guide", and that is precisely what it contains: information about selling stuff on eBay.

The main focus on the book is about selling things like costume jewelry, baseball cards and so on, that can be picked up at yard sales, from junk shops, etc. While the book does also touch on reselling items from wholesalers and selling informational CDs, I think it's pretty clear where the author's heart is.

One of the things that I liked most about the book, is it covers aspects of an eBay business which you don't always see addressed in other books. For example:
  • What to do if you get into an argument with awkward buyer, who doesn't want to comply with the terms and conditions of your auction.
  • What to do if one of your items gets broken during shipping.
  • Little things that you can do to delight your customers.
  • And so on.
I also liked the fact that the book is reasonably well-written, includes a few amusing but enlightening anecdotes (well at least I found them amusing) - and most of all - is solidly grounded in the author's own personal experiences.

While I don't know when this eBook was written, I do know that it's not a brand new hot-off-the-presses eBook. Even so, it feels very fresh, and I do not think this eBook is going to get dated quickly. Unlike a look of eBooks, it doesn't rely on a bunch of Internet hyperlinks (there are only a handful of links to web sites) - but instead relies on the author's knowledge of how to work with, and look after, customers.

If asked if there were any changes that I would have liked, the biggest thing I can say is - I wish there were more! I really did enjoy reading this eBook, and would have loved read more of the author's anecdotes and tips.

On a nitpicky note (and this really is quite a minor point), I think a little more use of whitespace, and ever so slightly tighter editing, could have improved this book.

Conclusion

Overall, I think this is an excellent eBook. I liked it a lot, I really enjoyed reading it, and I certainly would recommend it to others.

I had never previously considered selling the kinds of items that the author sells at eBay, but I have to say that I'm tempted to have a go now.

My overall rating for this eBook is therefore highly recommended.
